On Wednesday 4th May I met with Star Talent Director John Puczkowski. We spoke about how Spotlight Sound can help the Star Talent programme in putting on a great end of year show. The program set-up by John awards and recognises the best talent across Chelmsford for young people ages 12 – 18. We look forward to being a part of the Star Talent team this year.

On Wednesday 20th April we were asked to provide a projector and staff for The English Toastmasters Association St George’s Day Meeting. This was where members of the toastmasters association came together to talk about best practises and to share their experiences with other members. There were a number of key speakers which provided help and advice to the other members.

On Saturday 26th March, we were asked to provide a full mood lighting setup at Boreham House, Boreham, Essex. We were asked to match the lighting to the colours of the wedding which was gold. This was not a problem and overall created a stunning effect. The bride and groom had an excellent day and commented on how the lighting transformed the venue and added to the atmosphere of their day. I received a kind thank you from them shortly after.

On Saturday 19th March we were asked to provide a sound system for a birthday party in Hockley, Essex. There were singing performances throughout the night which we provided, microphones, backing music and a full Bose sound system. The singers were incredibly talented and one of the girls has got through the auditions of X Factor 2011. We all wish her the best of luck.
The evening was a great success and we were praised for the service we provided. Many thanks to Ken and Teresa for their hospitality on the night.

It had been decided that the NHS Foundation Trust will now start a road show, where the board members travel to different locations in Essex to get input from the locals. On Wednesday 2nd March I was pleased to travel with them to Colchester, where we setup the road show with conference microphones and new Bose L1 sound system for the public board meeting.
At this meeting there were also two guest speakers who each used a wireless lapel microphone so that both the board members and members of the public could hear clearly. This meeting was seen as a complete success by everyone and so the board will be on the road to Epping in August, I am pleased to be joining them there.

During the first two weeks of February I was invited back to help with setting up the stage, sound and lighting systems for The Boswells School end of year production, which this year was High School Musical 2. The show is open for years 9 – 13 and all are encouraged to take on a role.
I spent a number of days setting up and testing the equipment with the schools technician Richard Coombes. We then spent many long evenings at rehearsals making sure everything was programmed and ready for the week of shows.
Every show night went without a problem and the audience loved it. The shows were praised by the Head of School Mr. David Crowe as well as other senior members of staff.
Congratualtions to all students and staff on another successful performance.
With extensive experience in shows and productions, we can supply equipment and staff for your school or college. All staff that are invited on site are CRB Enhanced cleared beforehand.

We were booked for the second time to provide a board meeting sound system for the NHS Foundation Trust. We setup the conference style microphones and sound system at their headquarters in Chelmsford on 24th November for the meeting.
The system worked well to ensure all members of the public could hear each speaker during the meeting, and again the system was complimented for its ability to project the board members voice to the public.

On the evening of Thursday 21st October I was asked to provide a sound system including wireless microphones for a legal debate, sponsored by Gepp and Sons Solicitors in Chelmsford. The evening was a competition in which local schools and colleges were invited to argue court cases put in front of them. Overall the evening was a great success with St John Payne school winning for the second year running. Gepp and Sons were very impressed with how the systems worked and were happy to book us for 2011.
In the picture above left you can see BBC Essex’s Dave Monk entertaining the guests using one of the wireless microphones. In the picture right you can see the length of Shire Hall and what we had to cover. Even the people at the back could here clearly.

On 14th September I went to the Plasa show at Earls Court, London with my good friend Simon Kemp. We were stunned with the amount of new technology and equipment that was on show.
We spent time at the Martin Professional stand admiring their new LED moving heads. Small moving heads that fit into the palm of your hand, which give out an amazing amount of light for their size.
There were a number of demo rooms where manufacturers had their products up and running for you to see. We spend a lot of time in both the Funktion One demo room and the Kv2 room. We were welcomed in both rooms and got to here the full range of products they had on offer.
Having heard the Kv2 equipment I had instantly decided that this would benefit our customers. The systems are incredibly, almost unbelievably high quality when playing all types of music. Look out for us adding Kv2 to our hire stock.

On Saturday 4th September we delivered and setup a full turntable DJ package for a birthday party. We included two industry standard Technics turntables as well as two active Mackie speakers. At the end of the night the setup was complimented for its power and quality of sound.
