The Client: Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford Essex

In December, we had the privilege of supporting a special event at Broomfield Hospital’s Bereavement Garden. Broomfield Hospital organised a Christmas Carols Evening for families who have lost their babies. The beautiful evening was filled with carols, and was hosted to bring comfort, remembrance, and connection to the local community during the festive season.

The Bereavement Garden was set up by the Mid and South Essex Hospital Charity as a sanctuary for families who have lost their babies. It was opened during Babyloss Awareness Week in 2022 as a quiet, and private place for families to pause and reflect.

We provided red and green lighting throughout the garden, subtly illuminating the space without overwhelming it. The lighting was strategically placed to highlight key areas and create a welcoming, Christmas inspired, environment as families arrived and carols were sung.

Our team worked closely with the hospital’s team to ensure every element was set up seamlessly and respectfully, in keeping with the setting.

As the sun set, the garden came to life in festive colours, the atmosphere transformed. The glow of the lights alongside the carols. created a peaceful, heartfelt experience for all who attended. It was a small touch, but one that helped bring comfort to those who visited.
