Job Title: Warehouse Technician

Reports to: Warehouse Manager
Location: Chelmsford CM3 8EB
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

 

Role Purpose

To support the Warehouse Manager with the preparation, maintenance, and organisation of event equipment. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in sound, lighting, or AV (e.g. theatre, holiday parks, student productions) who wants to build a career in live events. The Warehouse Technician will prep and de-prep kit, maintain equipment, support the smooth running of the warehouse, and take part in onsite event work as needed.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Equipment Preparation & Return
   Prep sound, lighting, video, and staging equipment for upcoming events.
   De-prep, clean, test, and re-store returned equipment to ensure it’s ready for the next use.
2. Warehouse Organisation & Stock Control
   Keep the warehouse tidy, organised, and safe.
   Help manage storage, labelling, and stock checks, supporting efficient daily operations.
3. Equipment Maintenance
   Carry out basic maintenance, electrical tests (PAT equivalents), and first-line repairs under guidance.
   Identify damaged or faulty kit and log it clearly for further repair or replacement.
4. Event Support & Deliveries
   Assist with deliveries, collections, and small onsite setups.
   Opportunity to crew full events alongside the wider technical team as skills grow.
5. Quality & Standards
   Maintain a high standard of equipment presentation and readiness.
   Ensure all items are clean, safe, and complete before leaving the building.
6. Process Improvement
   Support the Warehouse Manager in improving workflows, layouts, checklists, and general ways of working to make the job easier and more efficient for the whole team.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

• Practical experience with sound, lighting, or AV kit (theatre, events, holiday parks, schools, etc.)
• Good practical skills with basic tools and equipment
• Computer literate (comfort with basic software and online systems)
• Full UK driving licence
• Ability to lift and handle equipment safely

Desirable

• Experience driving large vans / long-wheelbase vehicles
• Towing experience or willingness to be trained
• Electrical testing experience (PAT / in-service inspections)
• Awareness of LOLER and safe lifting practices
• Familiarity with common AV brands (RCF, Chauvet, Sennheiser, etc.)

 

Hours & Salary

• Full-time – 37.5 hours per week
• Evening/weekend work available during busy periods and event seasons
• Salary: From £21,000 depending on experience
• 20 days holiday + bank holidays

Business Development Manager (Events & AV)

Location: Chelmsford
Salary: £28,000 base + scalable commission (realistic OTE £40,000+)
Contract: Full-time (open to part-time with focus)

About Spotlight Sound

We’re an Essex-based event production and AV installation company. Two core divisions:

• Events: staging, sound and lighting for corporate events and live shows
• Installations: sound, lighting and video systems for pubs, bars, clubs, schools, churches and venues

We complete around a thousand jobs a year, built on strong delivery and repeat custom. We’re now looking to formalise an outbound sales function.

The opportunity

Build and run an effective sales engine. You’ll own pipeline, outreach and reporting, with HubSpot as the centre of gravity. Your time will be focused on three area:

1. Turning past installs into annual service contracts
2. Prospecting and closing new installation and event projects
3. Winning new venue partnerships

What you’ll do

• Own HubSpot: set up pipelines, tasks, sequences, automations and reporting
• Prospect daily: calls, emails and LinkedIn outreach
• Convert past installs to recurring service contracts with timed follow-ups and renewals
• Build a targeted list of venues, approach decision-makers and secure preferred/exclusive agreements
• Work with the team to scope and progress opportunities to close
• Keep partners and key accounts warm with regular check-ins and simple updates
• Maintain a disciplined follow-up cadence (everything tasked in HubSpot, not memory)
• Report weekly on activity, pipeline movement and results

What good looks like (first 90 days)

• Clean, working HubSpot board with tasks, sequences and simple workflows live
• Prioritised list in play and outreach underway
• Rolling post-event and post-install follow-ups generating reviews, renewals and service agreements
• Clear weekly dashboard: calls, meetings, proposals, pipeline value and wins

About you

Essential

• 5+ years’ B2B sales or business development experience
• Confident, phone-first prospector with end-to-end pipeline ownership
• Hands-on CRM user (HubSpot preferred): pipelines, tasks, sequences and automations
• Fanatic organisation, personable communication, and a tidy, methodical approach
• Comfortable setting targets and being measured against them

Nice to have

• Experience in events, AV, hospitality or venues
• Familiarity with Lean/process improvement

Pay, commission and benefits

• £28,000 base salary
• Scalable commission paid on cash received

The Role

The AV Engineer will be responsible for responding to service call jobs and installing AV, sound and lighting systems on site.

 

Reports To

The AV Engineer will report to the Service Manager.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

Happy Customers

• Fault finding and rectifying issues with AV, sound and lighting systems at the client site
• First and second fix AV, sound and lighting systems

 

Happy Colleagues

• Completion of service reports and ticket management on company systems
• Advising the team on parts needed to complete works on site

 

Make a Commercial Contribution

• Be an ambassador of the Spotlight Sound brand, by communicating well with current and prospective customers

Skills and Qualifications

• Have at least 3 years’ experience onsite with audio visual, sound and lighting service / installation
• Familiar with 100V and low impedance sound systems
• Familiar with audio signal chains
• Familiar with DMX signal chains
• Familiar with analogue and HDBaseT video systems
• Full UK drivers license

Desirable

• Experience with SoundWeb control systems
• Experience with ShowCAD control systems

 

Hours of Work

Standard working hours will be 37.5 per week, with time off in lieu for additional hours worked. In very busy periods it may not be possible for time off to be taken in lieu in any given month, therefore overtime may be paid where necessary.
