Older systems were often designed for speech alone and cannot cope with music, larger services or a busy events calendar. The good news: it is fixable, and it does not mean changing the character of your church.

Every church is different, and historic buildings bring their own acoustic challenges: hard surfaces, long reverberation, listed features you cannot touch. We design around them. For challenging acoustics we often use column-array speakers, which throw clear, even sound down the length of a building while staying visually discreet. Where music and live bands matter, we add subwoofers for warmth and depth. The aim is simple: clear sound everywhere, with kit that disappears into the space.

St Mary’s is an 11th-century church whose original system managed speech but struggled with music and a growing events calendar. We installed an RCF column-speaker system with integrated subwoofers, giving uniform, clear sound throughout. The church now hosts a far wider range of community and cultural events, with nothing on the walls that should not be there.
