The Chelmsford For You BID Business Awards brought the city’s business community together at Chelmsford Cathedral. We provided the sound, screens, lighting and an AV technician on the night, helping every winner’s moment look and sound the way it deserved in one of the city’s most spectacular settings.
The Event
The Chelmsford For You BID Business Awards celebrate the businesses that help the city centre thrive. Run by Chelmsford’s Business Improvement District, the awards bring together public nominations, an independent judging panel and a community vote, with the winners revealed at an evening ceremony at Chelmsford Cathedral.
As a Chelmsford based company ourselves, supporting our own city’s business awards is an event we are proud to be part of.
The Brief
An awards night lives on its moments: the host building anticipation, the winner announced, the walk to the front, the acceptance speech. Every one of those moments depends on clear sound, good lighting and screens that everyone in the room can see.
Delivering that inside a cathedral takes care. It is a beautiful setting for a celebration, but it is also a historic building with challenging acoustics, where equipment has to be brought in, rigged and cabled without fixing anything to the fabric of the building, and removed without a trace afterwards.
What We Delivered
We provided the full technical production for the evening: a sound system suited to the cathedral’s acoustics so speeches and announcements carried clearly to every table, screens so the whole room could follow the finalists and winners, and lighting to bring the atmosphere of an awards night to the building.
Our AV technician was on site throughout, running the event from setup to the final award, so the organisers and hosts could focus on the celebration rather than the technology.
The Result
The evening ran smoothly, every winner was seen and heard clearly, and the cathedral looked spectacular. The organisers had a single point of contact for everything technical, before and during the event.
